A Perfect Presque Isle Proposal

Presque Isle's Beach 6 in Erie, PA is where Jimmy & Carly officially became boyfriend & girlfriend, so it's only fitting that they get engaged at the same location. It was a beautiful, breezy, July evening and everything was working out perfectly.

Any time that I shoot a proposal, I always have my camera's "continuous shooting" setting enabled. This is just a fancy way of saying that it can take a lot of photos in a short amount of time. More specifically, about 20 photos every second.

There's two benefits to "continuous shooting". The first is that, with CS enabled, I have a lot of very similar photos to choose from, so I can make sure I don't miss any of the little details. The second (and my personal favorite) benefit of CS is that it allows me to make GIFS: a sequence of photos that, when stitched together, look like a video (see: above). They're so much fun to make and I think it's so powerful to be able to deliver a high-quality image, and video, of such momentous moments.

IF A PICTURE IS WORTH 1,000 WORDS THEN WHAT'S A GIF WORTH?

Shooting proposals can be such an adrenaline rush. For J&C's, I was literally hiding in the woods, about 100 yards away, to make sure I wasn't seen. I love being a part of these moments and I try to make them as true-to-life as I can. Capturing real & authentic moments is at the core of what I do, so if that means I need to hide in the woods for a few minutes, call me Katniss Everdeen. Congrats to J&C, so happy for their new beginning together! 🥂
